Walk with Refugees 2024 Recap

You Made It Happen!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this year's Walk with Refugees! Your generosity and enthusiasm helped us raise over $64,000—a record-breaking achievement for Adam House! 🧡

These funds will go a long way in supporting refugees as they transition into their new lives here in Toronto, providing essential services like housing, settlement assistance, and community programs. Together, we’re making a lasting impact on the lives of newcomers, helping them feel welcomed and empowered in their new home.

"It was incredible to witness the stream of orange t-shirts weaving through downtown Toronto neighbourhoods on October 5! These t-shirts were proudly worn by Adam House board members, staff, volunteers, supporters, and refugees, both current and former residents. Our Walk with Refugees is not just a fundraising event; it’s a chance to connect with our amazing community members. Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who shared the day with us!"

- Lucy Chaimiti (Executive Director)

Walk highlights

Our Walk with Refugees kicked off at 10 a.m., on October 5th with an excited crew proudly sporting their orange t-shirts! Starting our 8.5 km route at the Booth house, we captured the moment with group selfies before setting off through the heart of Toronto 📸.

For those who followed along with our scavenger hunt, we made several exciting stops along the way, including key points of interest like the Ontario Fireman’s Memorial. It was a great way to connect with the city while supporting a meaningful cause.

A special shoutout to our water stop churches, Grace Church Toronto and Knox Presbyterian Church, who kept us all hydrated and motivated! 💧 Your hospitality was much appreciated by all.

Our 8.5 km journey ended with a delicious BBQ lunch generously provided by the Young Nak Church. We want to extend a huge thank you to them for their amazing support and for helping to make the finish line such a delicious celebration 🍔 !

We’re Almost There!

Partner Spotlight – The Children’s Book Bank

We want to give a huge thank you to our wonderful partner, The Children’s Book Bank, for their support! Their generous donation of books was well-received by the families at our finish line! Ezekiel and his parents loved their new books! 📚✨

The Children’s Book Bank is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They offer fantastic programs for newcomers and families, including Saturday Storytimes. We're excited to announce that we will be organizing a special storytime session soon, so stay tuned for more details!
